I have started a petition requesting that PJ give us a scene set in *extras* on the DVD release of There and Back Again, that is set in the Halls of Waiting. Here we could witness Thorin, Fili and Kili being welcomed like the heroes they are. This is not a change of canon or anything that would affect the movie. This is just a request for an additional extra scene. If this scene is impossible then the petition would reinforce the popularity of the Heirs of Durin, which is a tribute both to Mr. Jackson and to the actors who brought them to life.
In talking with people and reading blogs I found that there are many of us who love Thorin, Fili and Kili as a family — one it is going to be very distressing to see killed in battle. It seemed that showing them smiling and being treated as heroes as the are welcomed into the Halls of Waiting would help a little. It’s always healing to be left with a good image and know your friends found peace and acceptance.
